<p>We having been driving back and forth between Calgary, AB and Cranbrook, BC many times over the last 6 months. We are still trying to sell our home and between upgrades and open houses it seems like every 2 weeks we are on the road for the 4 hour trip.</p>

<p>I enjoy the drive through Banff and Kootenay National Park better than the drive south through Crowsnest Pass.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" fetchpriority="high" width="683" height="1024" src="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Castle-Mountain-683x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-616" srcset="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Castle-Mountain-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Castle-Mountain-200x300.jpg 200w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Castle-Mountain-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Castle-Mountain.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption>Castle Mountain</figcaption></figure>

<p>However during the summer the park is packed with tourists and campers and RV’s so it is quicker to go south. Last week, just before Canadian Thanksgiving, it was a beautiful day so we decided that we should try going through the National Parks. It was our first time back to Highway 1 since early June and I was looking forward to seeing the incredible views.</p>

<p>Although we have driven past Olive Lake many times this trip we decided to stop and take a look around.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Sunstar-683x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-617" srcset="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Sunstar-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Sunstar-200x300.jpg 200w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Sunstar-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Sunstar.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption>Olive Lake</figcaption></figure>

<p>Olive Lake is located just inside the Kootenay Park gates east of Radium, BC on the Sinclair Pass Summit at an elevation of 1486 metres (4875 ft).</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-683x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-618" srcset="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-200x300.jpg 200w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption>Olive Lake</figcaption></figure>

<p>There is a picnic area with tables, a shelter and bathrooms (really more like an outhouse). There are a couple of pathways that you can use to explore the shores of the lake. Neither is very long and both can be done in 30 or 40 minutes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="683" height="1024" src="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Trail-683x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-619" srcset="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Trail-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Trail-200x300.jpg 200w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Trail-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Trail.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption>One of the paths around Olive Lake</figcaption></figure>

<p>While the lake is home to colourful Brook trout we didn’t see any in the extremely clear water. (Fishing season July 1 – October 31)</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="683" height="1024" src="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Stream-683x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-620" srcset="https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Stream-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Stream-200x300.jpg 200w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Stream-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://bestphotohdr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Olive-Lake-Stream.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption>Olive Lake Feeder Spring</figcaption></figure>

<p>I am glad we stopped and took a look around it was very peaceful and would recommend anyone who passes by to take the time to check it out.</p>
